Currumbin Eco-Parkland Update July 2024

22 July 2024

The Currumbin Eco-Parkland adjoins Currumbin Creek Road, Piggabeen Road, the NSW Border and four private properties. Our relationship with our neighbours is important as is their safety. Economic Development Queensland has engaged a local company (Arborcare) to assist in removing timber from within the 10m buffer area between the Eco-Park and our neighbour to the north before the planned control burn.

Due to the volume of limbs and branches, it is not appropriate to leave this much wood institute to rot or catch fire. You may see timber stockpiled for chipping within the Eco-Park in the coming weeks. Due to the wet conditions and for the safety of the operators, a removable work area will be established in early August and the chipping and removal being undertaken mid-August (pending site conditions).

The Projects Ecologists have advised on the possible impact this work may have on the flora and fauna of the park, a spotter catcher will be on site for each activity and EDQ will make every effort to ensure both people and ecological safety is considered as part of this operation.
