BMD has commenced construction activities to deliver the Northshore Brisbane Street Renewal Program. The BMD site compound is established on the corner of Theodore Street and MacArthur Avenue.

Graphically designed banner mesh has been recently installed on fencing around the site compound and Stage 1 work zone.

For street appeal, the graphic design on the banner mesh includes concept images representing the Northshore Vision.

The banner mesh will act as a control to minimise the impact of dust caused by construction vehicle movement and construction activities.

Upcoming activities

Demolition, surveying (including pre-condition, on ground and aerial drone surveys), service investigation and potholing activities will be carried out throughout November.

BMD will continue to carry out demolition of K Shed on MacArthur Avenue and Grays Online Shed on Theodore Street. This will involve the removal of external cladding, dismantling the shear roof lattice beams, removal of the external walls, slab and footings, and removal of surrounding existing hard pavement.

‘General Exclusion Zones’, involving temporary pedestrian detours, will be in place near these work zones during working hours. For your safety, please follow the direction of traffic control.

This work will involve, but not be limited to the use of excavators, haulage vehicles, small hand tools, generators, water trucks, skid steers and vac trucks.

Roadworks and temporary lane construction

More information on the construction of the temporary lane will be provided in future construction updates. The temporary lane will deviate traffic during the closure of MacArthur Avenue, scheduled for Stage 2 of the program.

Work hours

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 6.30 am to 6.00 pm and Friday and Saturday 6.30am to 4.00 pm, excluding public holidays, in accordance with Brisbane City Council work hours.

Work impacts

Temporary traffic, pedestrian and cyclist detours may be required near the work zones while works are carried out. For your safety, please follow signage and traffic control directions.

During the construction period, there will be an increase in workforce and construction vehicle movements, including the delivery and removal of material, equipment and machinery.

Measures will be in place to monitor and manage noise, dust and vibration.

Throughout construction, we will continue to provide notifications of upcoming work, monitor our activities, and adjust our controls where needed. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carry out this important work.

Holiday Shutdown Period

The BMD project team will take time off from Friday 20 December 2024 to be with family and loved ones, with no construction activities occurring over the festive holiday period. The project team will return to work on Monday 6 January 2025 and construction activities will recommence.
