April Construction Activities

Construction activities during April will be carried out in the Stage 1 and 2 work zones, the site compound, and other areas within the Northshore Brisbane precinct as part of the Street Renewal Program.

Other construction related activities during April

Other site compound and construction related activities around Northshore Brisbane in April will involve:

  • Ongoing site fencing and shed adjustments, including the delivery and removal of site sheds
  • Delivery, movement, storage and removal of plant, materials and equipment
  • Utility, stormwater and service investigations and installation, including saw cutting of existing pavement, trenching and back filling and building pit
  • Temporary traffic, pedestrian and cyclist detours
  • Temporary closure of some carpark spaces in Carpark C
  • Surveying
  • Environmental monitoring.

Temporary closure of Theodore Street, between MacArthur Avenue and MacArthur Avenue (North)

A new watermain line will be installed across Theodore Street, near the MacArthur Avenue intersection. Pending site and weather conditions, this work will commence on Monday 31 March 2025 and is expected to take one week to complete.

To safely carry out this work, a temporary closure of Theodore Street, between Curtin Avenue West and MacArthur Avenue will be required. This work will involve a temporary vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist detour and a temporary relocation of the bus stops as shown in the map below.

Future activities

To facilitate upgrade works, a temporary closure of MacArthur Avenue (between Bincote Street and Wharf Street), is planned for mid-2025, subject to weather and site conditions. A temporary lane will be constructed within the Stage 2 work zone to accommodate traffic during this period.

This closure is expected to be in place for 12 to 18 months, pending weather and site conditions. Vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist detours and a temporary bus stop relocation will be in place during this time.

An information session will be held next month to share details about this and other future activity, please come along and chat with the team at the upcoming community information session outlined below.

Work hours

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 6.30am to 6.00pm and Friday and Saturday 6.30am to 4.00pm, excluding public holidays, in accordance with Brisbane City Council work hours.

Work impacts

  • Traffic detours: will be required near the work zones and within the Northshore Brisbane precinct. For your safety, please follow signage and traffic control directions.
  • Noise, dust and vibration: these works will generate noise, dust and vibrations. Measures will be in place to monitor and manage noise, dust and vibrations.
  • Increased activities: there will be an increase in workforce and construction vehicle movements around the work areas. Equipment in use will involve but not be limited to excavators, haulage vehicles, small hand tools, concrete saws, generators, concrete trucks and pumps, water trucks and misting cannons, skid steers and vac trucks.
  • Utilities and services: construction activities may temporarily impact supply of utilities and services. We will provide advance written notification, at least seven (7) days prior to service disruption, to properties where utilities or services will be impacted.

Throughout construction, we will continue to provide notifications of upcoming work, monitor our activities, and adjust our controls where needed.
