Community Feedback: Northshore Brisbane Information Sessions

4 September 2024

Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) would like to thank the community members who attended the recent Northshore Brisbane community information sessions on the Street Renewal Program.

We appreciate hearing directly from the community and discussing the various aspects of the Street Renewal Program and the Northshore Brisbane precinct.

Below is a summary of the key questions and topics raised during the sessions:

Updates on the Street Renewal Program

Economic Development Queensland is currently finalising the timing and program with the contractor, BMD.

Prior to the start of construction, we will provide a construction notification to the community via the Northshore Brisbane Have Your Say website, with more details on the timing, type of work, location, and potential impacts on the community.

For a broad overview of the location and timing of the works up until 2030, please refer to Draft Road Construction Staging Concept Plan available on the Have Your Say Page. Please be aware that the extent and timing of the stages are subject to change.

To stay up to date, we encourage everyone who lives or travels through the area to subscribe to email updates by following the project on the Have Your Say website.

Increased traffic due to the opening of Bluey's World

All activations in the precinct, such as Eat Street and Bluey's World, are subject to a development approval process. This approval process includes evaluating traffic generation and parking demand.

The activations are responsible for implementing appropriate traffic management measures during their operating hours.

Parking supply

Parking supply on EDQ-controlled land is designated to support businesses and activations and is provided in accordance with the approved traffic management plans.

EDQ will continue to monitor the local traffic network to ensure traffic management plans are effectively implemented.

Increased delays from the Street Renewal Program

We are aware that the construction project may cause increased delays at some times and will work to minimise these impacts as much as possible. More information regarding detours will be available soon.

Safe lighting

EDQ is currently conducting an audit of lighting in the precinct to address any concerns and improve visibility.

Feedback

EDQ has taken note of feedback on the following topics. More information and updates on these topics will be posted on Have Your Say as they become available.

  • Configuration of cyclist and pedestrian lanes for the Street Renewal Program
  • Social and affordable housing development
  • Planned vegetation for the Urban Native Forest
  • EV charging locations
  • Community desire for a connected waterfront with pedestrian access along the entire waterfront

Thank you again for your participation and valuable input.

If you have further questions, please post them in the Q&A section of Have Your Say for the team to address.
