Approval for over 50s luxury lifestyle apartments and community centre

9 August 2022

Development approval has been granted to Honeycombes Property Group for the construction of Blume, an over 50s luxury lifestyle development and community centre at Songbird, Oxley.

Honeycombes is expected to begin construction on the $70 million lifestyle development in early 2023 with completion forecast for early 2025 (weather conditions permitting). Featuring 77 two-and three-bedroom apartments, Blume will be built across three separate buildings and vary between three and six storeys.

Designed to the Livable Housing Australia Guidelines standards the residences at Blume will feature wider hallways and doorways to accommodate wheelchairs, circulation space within the kitchen and seamless transition from internal to balcony spaces.

Other design features include a heated pool, residential gym, community centre - which will be a catalyst in drawing the local community to the development, a secure basement car park and extensive landscaping, and pathways connecting residents to raised garden beds and open spaces.

Construction of the $1 million single-level community centre is expected to begin in early 2023 with completion estimated to be early 2025. The centre will offer a kitchen, multipurpose room, library, and a commercially operated café which opens out onto a covered deck so residents and visitors can enjoy the serene, landscaped setting.

The approved Blume residences and community centre are a part of the wider integrated lifestyle and care precinct in Songbird.
