Community Conversations deliver for Songbird Oxley

14 October 2024

A range of place making projects are underway or nearing completion thanks to Songbird residents and the Oxley community providing their feedback through the Community Conversations campaign.

The key objectives of the Community Conversations undertaken early to mid-2023 were to:

  • gather stories and unpack the local connection to the site
  • test the existing place pillars with new and existing residents, and
  • understand the types of programming that interests the community.

The feedback received from the community strongly reflected the love of the natural bushland, the connection to nature and the blurred boundaries between houses and parkland. This feedback has helped shape a range of project deliverables for the community, including:

  • entry statement artwork piece 'Birrena Umphie' (created and installed)
  • nature playground and open green space (in progress)
  • Jacaranda Rest pocket park (completed)
  • public realm interpretive signage celebrating local stories and the site's history (in progress)
  • conservation area with tracks and trails being finalised and plans to commence work by late 2024.
